That’s why I built Rap Dojo. It’s the tool I needed to sharpen my own flow, and it’s here for anyone else ready to grab the mic—whether you want to master the craft or just show out at your next event.

That’s the estimated number of people tuning into rap and hip-hop globally, making up roughly 26% of all music listeners (Source: IFPI). Among Gen Z, a massive 55% listen daily, turning rap into the universal language of a new generation.

In the US, Hip-Hop/R&B accounts for over a quarter of all music streams (Source: Luminate). The movement is just as unstoppable overseas: in Japan, Creepy Nuts held the No. 1 spot on Billboard Japan for a staggering 19 consecutive weeks with "Bling-Bang-Bang-Born" (Source: Billboard Japan). The momentum is undeniable.

The Challenge: Vocabulary and Consistency

When you first start rapping, the biggest wall you hit is usually your vocabulary—building up an arsenal of words and rhymes to keep your flow going.

I once asked a rapper friend for advice on how to practice. Honestly? The traditional methods are surprisingly tedious. They require a lot of repetition and patience, making it tough for beginners to stay motivated. The sad reality is that most people give up before they ever see real progress.

Here's a peek under the hood at how we built Rap Dojo.

The Frontend

We went with a clean, lightweight stack using HTML, CSS, and minimal JavaScript. Development was powered by Google Antigravity. Because we could build and tweak the UI just by giving the AI natural language prompts, we achieved incredibly fast, intuitive development without getting bogged down by complex frameworks.

The Backend

Our infrastructure is hosted on Google Cloud Run and built with Python, relying heavily on LangChain and the Gemini API.

Innovative Generation Logic (The Two-Stage Pipeline)

To produce top-tier lyrics, we split the heavy lifting between two different Gemini models:

Rap Dojo is currently in its MVP phase, giving you the core tools you need to get started. But we have massive updates on the roadmap designed to weave hip-hop even deeper into your everyday life.

The "Rap-ification" of Your Routine

Expanding the Culture: Music & Art

Hip-hop is more than just lyrics. We plan to integrate music-generation AI (like Suno) for custom beat production, plus AI-generated graffiti tools to give your tracks that authentic visual flair.

With Rap Dojo, I’m building the tool I wish I had to polish my own skills, while creating a space where anyone can experience the raw energy and fun of hip-hop culture right at their fingertips.
